Beyond making its impact in the local community, the APALRC has also gained national recognition for its multi-lingual legal referral helpline and legal interpreter projects as pioneering “access to justice” models. In response to numerous requests it has received for technical assistance, the APALRC has published two handbooks which document the development and implementation of its helpline and interpreter projects. The goal of these publications is to offer practical assistance and support to legal and community groups across the country, including Canada, interested in starting similar efforts in their communities. This effort was made possible through the support provided by the Open Society Institute’s Program on Law & Society.
